Over 70 dead animals were found at a property in Spartanburg County, earlier this week. County Animal Control Officers executed a search warrant at a home on Greenpond Road, Tuesday. More than 90 animals were removed from the property altogether.
Officials say, some of the dead animals were found in freezers on the property and that some of the animals have been dead since 2023. Investigators say that a woman named Carol Ferger was operating a non-approved animal rescue and shelter on the property. Officials claim that the shelter is not a registered non-profit.
Ferger is accused of ill treatment and cruelty to animals, she also was cited for violations involving the maintenance of the property. Spartanburg County Environmental Enforcement has condemned the home and property since the search.
