More than two dozen arrests were made after a weekend street takeover in the Upstate. The Laurens County Sheriff's Office says, an illegal street takeover was widely promoted online and was held Saturday near Mountville and White Plains Roads.
Officials say, 29 people were arrested after they shutdown the roadway and were doing doughnuts, drag racing and performing other stunts. Earlier this year South Carolina passed a roadway and safety act that makes street takeovers illegal.
The Laurens County Sheriff's Office said of the incident "Public roadways are not for reckless stunts. Think twice before making the drive to Laurens County to participate in something that ends with blue lights and jail.”
