As we previously reported, former President Donald Trump is set to visit the Upstate, Independence weekend. He will hold a rally in Pickens Saturday July 1st and is set to speak at 1 PM. Now the town of less than 4,000 people must prepare for the expected ground swell of people making their way there for the rally.

Area leaders like U.S. Senator Lindsey Graham, a known Trump ally and State House Majority Leader Davey Hiott of Pickens are acting as conduits between the town and the Trump campaign to help make the event happen.

Hiott told the Greenville News "Almost 76% of people in Pickens County voted for Donald Trump. So Trump looked at that, and said why not? Why not repay for their support and go visit their small city."

The paper reports that Hiott also told them that nearly 20,000 people have already registered for the rally. That is a number that is around more than 6 times the town's population.

The Trump rally is a free event but a ticket is required. Here's the link for online registration for the event-
