Prisma Health held a virtual press conference Friday afternoon to update the public on their current COVID vaccine rollout progress.
Dr. Saria Saccocio, who is leading the vaccination efforts of Prisma Health, said that starting Saturday, January 23rd, it’s by-appointment-only for COVID vaccinations at Prisma Health hospitals and community vaccination centers due to limited vaccine availability.
"Yesterday at Prisma Health, we distributed 9,370 vaccine doses. This is nearly reaching our week's goal of 10,000 per day," Dr. Saccocio said, stating she expects to reach that goal by the end of Friday. "However, our supply now has dwindled tremendously. Due to our rapid efficiency and the huge community demand of those aged 70 and older, we have no excess inventory of vaccine."
Dr. Saccocio also mentioned that Prisma Health is working on a simpler more streamlined method for individuals to set up vaccination appointments and that more will be shared when it’s ready.
