Prisma Health held a virtual press conference Wednesday to announce its vaccine rollout for kids. Beginning today (Thursday Nov. 5th) children 5 through 11 years old can get the vaccine at Prisma locations, this comes after the CDC gave their endorsement of vaccinating young children. Dr. Caughman (Coff- man) Taylor is the Senior Medical Director for Prisma Children’s Hospital in the Midlands and he has full confidence in this move. Taylor said " Unlike most vaccines that are tested in children first, this was tested on adults first. We got a chance to see a lot of side effects and none of them materialized."

Dr. Robin Lacroix is Taylor's counterpart for the Upstate Prisma locations, she said the rollout will help everyone move forward through the pandemic. Prisma says it will require parental consent for all children receiving the vaccine at their sites.
