A reality TV star from the Upstate is appealing a prison sentence that was handed down last month. Julie Chrisley from the USA Network Series "Chrisley Knows Best", has appealed her seven year prison term.
The sentence came in connection to her role in a fraud scheme. Her husband, Westminster native Todd Chrisley was sentenced to 12 years after a jury found the couple guilty of defrauding banks out of more than 30 million dollars.
The Chrisleys were also convicted of tax evasion. Julie has served 20 months in prison, thus far. Her attorney has asked for the sentence to be reduced to less than five years, stating she was a minor part of the criminal scheme.
Federal prosecutors refute that claim saying Julie was a major part of the scheme and has not admitted any wrongdoing.
