Anderson Police say a teenaged boy walking down the street wielding an air soft replica of an AR-style rifle sparked the active shooter scare at a midtown nursing home this morning.
The youngster reportedly fired the imitation Bushmaster rifle within sight of the Condor Heath Center on East Hampton Lane. Some frightened residents called 9-1-1 reporting a gunman at large in the area.
Police say, the boy ran back into a nearby house and hid in the shower, where he was taken into custody. A police spokesman says he'll be transferred to the Juvenile Justice Center to face charges including breach of the peace and possibly a firearms violation.
