Firefighters say, one family tossed a baby to their neighbors before jumping from a second-floor window to escape the flames that swept four units of the Eagle Trace Apartment complex on Lakeside Road, early Friday.
Gantt Fire Chief Randy Morris told reporters the blaze spread so quickly other residents also had to resort to jumping from windows. Seven people were taken to the hospital for treatment of injuries later described as minor.
The first alarm came in shortly after 2:30 AM. The cause of the fire is still unknown.
