A reward of up to five thousand dollars is offered for information leading to the killer of a homeless man found dead under a bridge in midtown Spartanburg.

The reward is posted by CRIMESTOPPERS-SC at the request of Spartanburg Police. They're hoping for leads in bludgeoning death of 31-year-old Stephen Shawn Smith. One of the Miracle Hill Rescue Mission workers called police around 3:00 AM, March 27th.

They reported that a man found beneath the bridge near North Forest and Clinton Streets was unresponsive, apparently not breathing. The Coroner's report say he had been savagely beaten with some kind of blunt object.

Spartanburg homicide investigators urge anyone who has any information on the case to call 1-888-CRIMESTOPPERS-SC.
