Around 26-thousand estimated voter ballots in Spartanburg County will be cast in the special GOP primary runoff by the time polls close at 7:00 PM, Tuesday. Coroner Rusty Clevenger and veteran lawman Bill Rhyne meet in a run-off to see for a bid to be the next Sheriff in Spartanburg County.

Schools, the usual voting venues, were still closed for summer vacation when the special primary for Sheriff and a County Council seat was held two weeks ago. Students are back in class today.

County Elections and Registration Director John Baucom advises voters to watch for signs at some schools directing them to areas entrances that might not have been where they cast their ballots on August 5th.

He also cautions that traffic will be typically heaviest schools' opening and closing times today, and in the case of Cannon Elementary School, which has no alternate area available for the polls, voters will be directed to the nearby Cannons Campground Ruritan club building on Old Converse Road.

The nominee for Sheriff -- either Bill Rhyne of Rusty Clevenger -- will run unopposed in the general election.

The winner of the District Three Council nomination between Jason Lynch and Paul Abbot and will face Democrat and Forward Party candidates on November 5th.

Nearly 4,000 people voted early in this round.
