Greenville County Schools hope that it's a fantastic voyage as they received their 1st ever electric bus morning. The announcement ceremony was held at Fisher Middle Schools in Greenville. Speakers included District Superintendent Dr. Burke Royster, Austin Meyer of the Meyer Foundation who donated the bus, Mark Childers of Thomas Built Buses and Mike Adams of Proterra Greenville.
The bus costs about $340,000 and was assembled in the Carolinas. Freightliner of Gaffney produced the Chassis, Thomas Built Buses of High Point, NC built the bus itself. Proterra of Greenville manafactured the power train.
I spoke with Mike Adams Of Proterra, he says the batteries in this bus were made at Proterra's location in California, but Proterra is expanding its Greenville facility and will produce batteries there in the future.
