SCAG announces prison sentence for Simpsonville man for child sex crimes

A Greenville County man has been sentenced to prison on child sex crime charges. South Carolina Attorney General Alan Wilson says, 29 year old Alan Irby of Simpsonville, pled guilty on two counts of 2nd degree sexual exploitation of a minor.

An investigation was launched in the summer of 2020 after the Greenville County Sheriff's Office was tipped off to child sex abuse material being uploaded. The investigation lead to a warrant being executed on Irby's home and two other Greenville County addresses associated with him.

Irby was already a registered sex offender after a previous conviction. Irby has been sentenced to 5 years in the South Carolina Department Of Corrections to be followed by three years of probation. Irby will also be required to register as a tier 2 sex offender upon his release.
