South Carolina Attorney General Alan Wilson has announced a temporary blockage on a change to Title IX. The 11th Circuit U.S. Court Of Appeals has granted an injunction request on a proposed rule change.
That rule would require any schools receiving federal funding to accommodate the gender identity of students and teachers. It would allow anyone identifying as an opposite gender to use whatever bathroom or locker room that they choose.
The rule was supposed to go into effect today, but has now been blocked in South Carolina, Georgia, Florida and Alabama. Those states will now file a motion for injunction pending appeal.
