The search is back underway on Lake Jocassee for a kayaker whose companion was rescued Saturday. Two people were camping at the lake when they launched their kayaks Saturday.
Gusty winds whipped up whitecaps in the area causing both kayaks to capsize around 6:00 PM. Early reports say one of them, a young woman, was pulled from the water by other boaters. She was taken to hospital for treatment of hypothermia.
The Oconee County Sheriff's Office and State DNR personnel have been trying to locate the other person ever since. It is considered a recovery mission as it resumed just before daybreak. No identities will be released until the search ends or is called off.
