UPDATE: Authorities have arrested 33 year-old Devortae Marquez Durham in the shooting death of 23 year-old Trycina Nichole Whitehurst.
Greenville County Sheriff's Deputies were called to a West Parker Road home Friday, January 16, 2026, just after midnight after dispatchers received a call about an attack. On scene, 23 year-old Trycina Nichole Whitehurst was found deceased. The Coroner's office said she died from a gun shot wound.
An investigation led Deputies to boyfriend Devortae Marquez Durham, the suspect in the case.
Authorities tracked Durham to the Quality Inn & Suites on Mills Avenue in Greenville, where he was arrested Friday evening.
Durham has been charged with murder and possession of a weapon during a violent crime an is currently in the Greenville County Detention Center awaiting a bond hearing.
PREVIOUSLY REPORTED: Greenville County Deputies are searching for a suspect after a deadly attack on a woman at a home on West Parker Road. 9-1-1 dispatchers were called just after 12AM, Friday. Upon arrival, a woman identified as 23 year old, Trycina Nichole Whitehurst was found dead.
The Greenville County Coroner's Office has not yet released the official cause and manner of death.
Deputies are searching for a man investigators believe knew Whitehurst. The suspect was last seen wearing camouflage pants and a black jacket.
Greenville County authorities are asking anyone with any information to call 9-1-1.
