An Upstate police department is searching for a man wanted in connection to a fatal shooting over the weekend. As we previously reported, the Spartanburg Police Department responded to a reported shooting on Farley Avenue around 10:45, Saturday morning.
Upon arrival officers found a man on the floor suffering from a gunshot wound. The victim, 58 year old Allen Lewis Jr. was pronounced dead at the scene. Investigators have now identified the suspect as Melvin Douglas, also known as "New York".
He's wanted for murder and a weapons violation. Anyone with info on the whereabouts of Melvin Douglas is asked to contact the Spartanburg PD at 596-2065.
