The Highway Patrol is hunting two vehicles troopers say struck a pedestrian in Piedmont, Monday night and both drove away. The Patrol says, a car traveling north on Augusta Road first hit the pedestrian in the intersection with Beechtree Boulevard just before 9:30.
That driver stopped, but the fatally injured pedestrian was hit by two more vehicles that kept going. Investigators say they might have front-end damage but no other details have been posted so far.
The victim was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident. Identity is being withheld pending notification of relatives.
