Seneca man arrested for allegedly hitting robbery victim with hatchet

A Seneca man is facing multiple charges after allegedly hitting a man with a hatchet over the weekend. The Oconee County Sheriff's Office responded to a reported assault at a home on Ponderosa Drive near Seneca, Saturday morning.

Investigators say, the suspect 20 year old Ezekiel Isaiah James Cheeks entered the home and assaulted the victim with a hatchet. The victim suffered injuries and was transported to an area hospital for treatment. Cheeks was taken into custody, Monday morning after arrest warrants on him were obtained.

He was booked into the Oconee County jail on charges of 1st degree burglary, aggravated assault, and a weapons violation. He also faces additional charges of furnishing contraband and possession of meth after drugs were found on him, while he was being booked.
