Heavy storms and high winds are in the forecast for Thursday as tropical storm Zeta passes near the upstate.
The storm was reported as strengthening as it hit the Gulf Coast Wednesday and upgraded to a Category 2 tropical storm.
A storm of this strength can cause notable damage and will bring heavy rain and fierce winds with it to the upstate on Thursday.
Staff Meteorologist Ray Miller said the bulk of the storm's force in South Carolina will be felt near the Upstate's northern border with North Carolina.
