Sheriff announces arrests in two Greenville County cold case murders

Arrests have been in two separate cold cases in Greenville County. Sheriff Hobart Lewis announced the arrests at a Friday morning press conference.

The first arrest was of 22-year-old Charles Russel Reams for Murder and Possession of a Weapon during a Violent Crime in connection to the April 2022 death of Charity Southerland.

The other arrest was of 34-year-old John Wesley Nix on various charges including Murder, Attempted Murder, two counts of Assault and Battery of a High and Aggravated Nature, Attempted Robbery, Possession of a Weapon during a Violent Crime and Criminal Conspiracy .

Those charges are connection to the shooting of four people and killing of Zachary Whitley during a drug deal, gone wrong in April of 2016.
