A shooting in the Upstate earlier this month has been ruled justified but other charges have been filed following the incident. The Anderson County Sheriff's Office responded to a domestic disturbance on Van Martin Road, earlier this month.
Investigators say the suspect, John Luther Cody Murphy was damaging property and threatening family members at the house. They barricaded themselves in the basement in fear of Murphy.
Murphy then forced his way into the basement and was shot. He has been deemed the aggressor in the incident and is charged with 3rd degree domestic violence.
Officials say the family member who was shot Murphy will not face charges.
