One of the great natural resources that the Upstate has is its lakes. We hear and see every year about drownings in the Upstate. Just this past Friday, a man's body was found in Lake Hartwell. My daughter who lives in another state with my ex-wife, completed swimming lessons this year that were offered through her school. I was with a friend from the Upstate recently and I mentioned that in conversation. He relayed to me that he thinks all Upstate schools should offer swimming lessons, given the amount of lakes in the area. While I realize that most schools in the Upstate don't have a pool on campus, almost every county does have some sort of public pool that could be made available. Then the lessons could be a partnership between the entity that operates the pool (generally municipalities or YMCA branches etc.) and the schools? Do you think all Upstate schools should offer swimming lessons?
