There's been much talk in the Upstate about illegally collected taxes. A few weeks ago ,the Greenville County Council voted against refunding tax funds to taxpayers, that the courts say were illegally collected. At their meeting on Tuesday Oct. 19th, the council again discussed the issue. In the end, they voted against revisiting the matter. That brings up a fundamental question about governments, whether they be federal, state, county or municipal, should they be forced to refund illicitly collected tax revenue?
