2020 became the height of the "defund the police movement". We began to hear that phrase more and more, anti-police demonstrations also became much more prevalent. South Carolina currently is running at a deficit of law enforcement officers statewide. There is an issue with keeping officers in the profession. Not only is there a growing number of people nationwide that are anti-police, but there also is a pay grade issue. We often hear about how teachers are underpaid, and they are. However, law enforcement officers seem to be grossly underpaid, especially now given the growing dangers of the job. Should the state implement officer pay raises to try and attract more people to the profession, and retain those already in it? Let us know, below.
