Allegations of inappropriate use of inmate labor at an Upstate jail has led to an investigation. Two employees at the Laurens County Detention Center have already been fired and charged. Three others are on administrative leave as, SLED continues to investigate.
The Laurens County Sheriff's Office says that some detention officers were using inmate labor for personal purposes. Both Holly Walker and Nicolas Walker have been fired and are charged with misconduct in office.
The other three staffers who have not been named publicly are on leave pending the outcome of the SLED investigation.
