A Spartanburg man will spend the rest of his life behind bars for a shooting in the Upstate, two years ago. The 7th Circuit Solicitor's Office says, 32 year old Cornelius Jerome Staggers was found guilty for attempted murder, 1st degree assault and shooting into a vehicle.

The charges stem from an incident in August of 2021 in which investigators report that Staggers fired at the victim and his wife while they were sitting inside a vehicle at the intersection of Wofford Street and Farley Avenue in Spartanburg.

The life without parole sentence comes after Staggers was previously convicted for multiple counts of attempted armed robbery, violent burglary, assault and various weapons violations.
