An Upstate man will spend the rest of his life behind bars after being found guilty of beating two men to death in 2021. The 7th Circuit Solicitor's Office says 34 year old, Marcus Danta Batson was convicted Thursday of killing 56 year old Matthew Booker and 73 year old, Ronald Glenn.
The charges came after police responded to a home on Windsmith Avenue for a welfare check in Spartanburg in July 0f 2021. Upon arrival, officers found Booker and Glenn dead in their separate bedrooms. Both victims showed obvious signs of trauma and a bloody baseball bat was found at the scene.
Batson also lived in the home, he arrived while the coroner's office was still on the scene. Evidence gathered in the investigation pointed to Batson's involvement.
He later confessed that he beat the two men to death with the baseball bat. Batson was sentenced to life without parole on each murder conviction.
