On Thursday, the South Carolina Statehouse voted to approve a tax incentive package of over a billion dollars to bring an electric vehicle plant to the Midlands. The tax money would be used to develop infrastructure for the new Volkswagen backed plant that would manufacture it's new line of Scout Electric trucks and SUV's.
One legislator who has adamantly opposed the tax breaks is District 20 Representative and House Freedom Caucus Leader Adam Morgan. He appeared on Friday morning's episode of the Tara Show to voice his opposition of the move. The entire interview is below.
Neighboring states are int he process of offering similar packages to electric vehicle makers. Georgia has offered Hyundai 1.8 billion in incentives to build a their 1st U.S. based plant in Savannah. North Carolina appears to be offering Vinfast over a billion to establish it's first North American facility in the Tar Heel State.
