State Senator says he won't seek re-election

An upstate senator says his current term will be his last in the State Senate. District 12 Senator Scott Talley issued a statement Tuesday saying that when his current term expires in November of 2024, he will not seek re-election for the district which encompasses parts of Greenville and Spartanburg Counties.

The Spartanburg Republican said it was time for him to take on another challenge and serve the community in a different capacity. Talley in the statement said he looks forward to the 2023-24 Senate session, but he wanted to be transparent about his future plans so that someone who shares the same goals can prepare to run for the office.
