Laurens Police have detained a student for making a false bomb threat at Laurens Middle School. Monday night authorities were alerted to a potential threat, which was investigated but authorities found no evidence.
Then early Tuesday morning, the FBI contacted Laurens Police regarding a fake social media account responsible for a making a bomb threat at the school.
Police say the person responsible for that account was detained and admitted to the hoax. Police say there is no danger to the school. The name of the individual involved will not be released because they are a juvenile. Laurens Middle School will operate on a regular schedule Tuesday.
