SLED has officially charged the man who attacked a Greenville County K9 last month. Monday, the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division charged 51 year old James Edgar Hopkins IV, with Aggravated Breach of Peace, Cruelty to a Police Dog, and Resisting Arrest with a Deadly Weapon.
The charges follow an incident on May 13th, when local and federal authorities attempted to serve arrest warrants on Hopkins, who had evaded law enforcement, but was located at the Woodlawn Cemetery in Greenville.
That's where deputies shot Hopkins after he stabbed the K9 during a standoff. SLED was requested by the Greenville County Sheriff’s Office to investigate the shooting.
