A suspect is in custody accused of assaulting an elderly Upstate man and stealing thousands of dollars from him.
The Greenwood County Sheriff's Office responded to a reported robbery at a home on Arthurs Point last week. Deputies say the suspect was there to work on the elderly man's irrigation system.
The man disputed the charge due to the system still not being in working order. The suspect, 42 year old Jack Douglas Dalton then reportedly became enraged and pushed the victim down.
The elderly man fell and hit his head on the driveway. Investigators say Dalton then allegedly took an envelope from the victim containing a thousand dollars and then entered the house and took two grand cash from a box inside. Dalton is charged burglary and assault.
