Homicide and coroner's investigators are expected to release more information about Wednesday night's fatal shooting at downtown Greenville landmark Calhoun Towers.

City Police officers heard the gunshot in the parlking lot of what is now known as the Towers-East apartments shortly after 7:30. They found the victim, described for now only as a black male, dead of a bullet wound. He appeared to have been shot in the head.

An autopsy is scheduled. The suspected shooter was arrested minutes after the victim was found. A police spokesman says he was spotted walking away from the area and taken into custody without incident.

His identity has not been disclosed either at this point. The section of the parking lot fronting on North Main was roped off as a crime scene. As of Thursday morning, Homicide Detectives said it was still an active crime scene.
