The suspect captured after a Wednesday night police chase that involved multiple agencies and stretched across multiple Upstate counties has now been identified.

The Anderson County Sheriff's Office named Theodore Montejo as the suspect, Thursday. As we previously reported, the South Carolina Highway Patrol radioed the Anderson County Sheriff's Office about a vehicle that rammed a trooper's vehicle on I-85.

As the chase moved further into Anderson County, their deputies joined in. Montejo then crashed his Chevy Van into an 18 wheeler near mile marker 15. In the post-crash chaos, he jumped in a patrol vehicle that Anderson County Deputies had exited.

He then fled the scene and crossed into Oconee County and deputies there assisted in the pursuit. Montejo eventually crashed the patrol vehicle and ran into the nearby woods. He was located by a K-9 unit and taken into custody.

Montejo was transported to the hospital to be treated for a K-9 bite and injuries suffered in the two crashes. The ACSO says, some of their deputies suffered minor injuries in the incident. Montejo is charged with two counts of failure to stop and grand larceny.
