A suspect who tried to avoid capture by leaping into an Upstate river, is now dead. The Anderson County Sheriff's Office says that deputies were serving warrants on a suspect, when failed to put his vehicle in park and it crashed into another vehicle.
No injuries were reported to those in the other vehicle. The suspect fled on foot and then jumped into the Saluda River. He went under and did not resurface, that's when rescue efforts began. Divers then pulled his body from the water around noon, Monday.
The Coroner's Office has not yet released his identity.
