A suspect is in custody after exchanging gunfire with a police officer over the weekend. An officer from the Greenville Police Department responded to the Stratham Place Apartments on Shaw Street around 7:30 Saturday morning.
Police say the suspect, Theodis Hester Williams shot at the officer, who then returned fire. Williams fled the scene, but was later located and arrested. Williams had previous outstanding warrants and will face charges from those warrants in addition to charges from the weekend incident.
Williams faces Attempted Murder, Interfering With Police and Multiple Weapons Charges stemming from the Saturday shootout. SLED is investigating the incident, which is standard protocol for officer involved shootings.
