Suspect in custody after SWAT responds to area home

A domestic incident prompted a SWAT team response at an Upstate home, early Friday morning. The Anderson County Sheriff's Office says, that SWAT personnel was called to respond to an incident at a house in Piedmont.

The Sheriff's Office reports that a man known to the female victim became violent with her and then discharged a gun inside the home on Shiloh Road. The victim was able to get the gun from the suspect and flee the scene without further incident.

The Sheriff's Office said, the situation was not a standoff, as the suspect never threatened any of the responding SWAT officers. The suspect has been identified as, Samuel Albert Tessendorf. He was taken into custody and is charged with aggravated assault and battery.
