
A suspect is in custody after a weekend standoff with police in Western North Carolina. The Asheville Police Department responded to the area of Deaverview Road just after 6 PM, Sunday night.
Upon arrival, officers discovered that a bystander had already left with the victim, on the way to the hospital. Officers located the vehicle and victim in the area nearby. The victim was transported to the hospital in critical condition.
Officers then made contact with the shooter who was hiding in the house and refused to come out. After a brief standoff the suspect, 43 year old Perry GodBolt was taken into custody without incident.
After a search of the home, officers found over 15 ounces of fentanyl, over 20 grams of cocaine, six guns and over $6,500 cash.
Godbolt is charged with assault with a deadly weapon, trafficking fentanyl, intent to distribute cocaine, resisting arrest and multiple weapons violations.
