An Upstate man is facing charges for fleeing arrest multiple times in the same day. The Spartanburg Police Department responded to a domestic violence call, around 2:30 PM, Wednesday. The suspect identified as Devon Jeter had fled the scene in a truck prior to police arriving.
Later officers located the truck in the Cedar Springs area of Spartanburg and tried to conduct a traffic stop. Jeter refused and kept driving before eventually stopping. While stopped he reportedly refused to the exit the vehicle. Officers then broke a window and used a K-9 unit to help get Jeter out of the truck.
Police say, Jeter cut the dog with a box cutter during the incident. Jeter then took off in the truck again and Spartanburg County deputies then picked up the chase. Deputies used a pit maneuver to stop the vehicle and Jeter was taken into custody without further incident.
Jeter has been charged with failure to stop for blue lights and DUI. Police say additional charges against Jeter are pending and that the dog was taken to a vet to be treated and is expected to recover.
