The Anderson County Coroner's Office has identified the suspect that was killed in a shootout with deputies on I-85 in Anderson County, Monday. 32 year old, Austin Derrell Robertson of Pennsylvania was pulled over by a deputy near the Highway 24 exits, around 4:30PM.
The Deputy called for backup during the traffic stop. The Sheriff's Office says Robertson pulled a gun from his Dodge Challenger and fired at the second deputy. The first deputy returned fire, hitting Robertson who died at the scene.
The deputy was airlifted to Prisma Health Greenville Memorial Hospital with life-threatening wounds, but is in stable condition. SLED is investigating which is standard protocol in officer involved shootings around the state.
