A two-county investigation points to one suspect in connection with half a dozen robberies over the past two weeks, all but one of them targeting Dollar General stores.
The man accused of being the busy bandit is in custody in Union County. Sheriff's Office Captain Scott Coffer identifies him as 40-year-old Curtis Richard Wray of Gaffney.
Three Dollar General locations in the county were burglarized, cash drawers removed from the registers in Jonesville, Lockhart and Highway 9 in the Kelton community.
The tactic and descriptions of the suspect and the getaway vehicle were similar; and have since been linked to cases in Spartanburg County. Dollar General stores in Cross Anchor and Woodruff and the Kelly One-Stop convenience store back in Union County.
The wanted vehicle was spotted by Union County deputies on Highway 176 Saturday. They made a traffic stop and Wray was quietly arrested. The investigation widened over the weekend to include all six cases in the Upstate and a felony theft warrant from Ohio.
Officers there want to extradite him when, in Captain Scott's words, "... charges here are satisfied".
