
A suspect is in custody after leading Upstate deputies on a chase in a stolen ambulance. The Spartanburg County Sheriff's Office responded just before 12:30 Thursday afternoon, on a report of a stolen ambulance at Mary Black Hospital.
A chase then began and went through Spartanburg where a city police officer's vehicle was struck. The suspect refused to stop and the pursuit moved into Union County. Deputies there deployed stop sticks and the chase came to an end on Whitmire Highway.
The suspect was then taken into custody without incident, the identity of the suspect has not been released, as of the time of this report. The Sheriff's Office says no deputies were injured in the chase.
No further details have been released regarding the incident, we plan to have more when new information emerges.
