A suspect is dead after taking his own life following a police standoff. The Spartanburg County Sheriff’s Office says , 42 year old Robert Alan Beach of Boiling Springs committed suicide after deputies surrounded him.
The incident began around 11:50 Sunday night on Cannon Road in Wellford. The Sheriff’s Office released a statement Monday, saying that Beach was wanted for 2nd degree domestic violence and pointing a firearm, he also had cut off his ankle monitor out of Greenville County.
The statement goes on to say that Beach refused to pullover , he then was forcible stopped and threatened to take his own life. A standoff then ensued and lasted until around 7AM this morning (Monday). The Sheriff’s Office deployed tear gas into Beach’s vehicle, he then turned the gun on himself. Beach was pronounced dead at Spartanburg Regional around 7:20 AM Monday morning. There was no report of injuries to any of the law enforcement personnel involved.
