A suspect has been shot and killed after a standoff ended with an officer involved shooting. Spartanburg County Warrant Officers responded just after 3 PM Thursday to a home on South Carolina Avenue to apprehend a wanted suspect.
The Sheriff's Office says, the suspect threatened deputies with a knife and then barricaded himself in a bedroom. A standoff ensued, gas was then deployed. After that and negotiations failed, deputies then went through the door of the bedroom.
A K-9 Unit was sent in and the suspect then began stabbing it. That's when at least one deputy fired and hit the suspect. The Coroner’s Office confirmed that the suspect died at the scene and identified him as 39-year-old Darius Holcomb of Spartanburg. SLED has been called into investigate, which standard protocol in officer involved shootings.
