The suspect who was arrested Tuesday after leading deputies on a high speed chase on a busy Upstate highway, has now been identified.
As we previously reported, an Anderson County Deputy spotted a driver wearing a ski mask who was running over 100 mph on I-85, Tuesday afternoon. Deputies backed off the chase as it moved into densely populated areas of Anderson.
The suspect now identified, as 18 year old Vicente Jose Garcia-Hernandez of Charlotte, was arrested hitting a vehicle head on and crashing into a parked car, at Whitehall Elementary in Anderson. The school was placed on a "secure hold", while the resource officer held the suspect, until back up arrived.
Garcia-Hernandez is charged with two counts of failure to stop, hit and run and a number of registration and traffic violations.
