A now former Upstate teacher is facing criminal charges for failing to report inappropriate acts at school. The Anderson County Sheriff's Office says a warrant for the arrest Dana Elizabeth Brown was issued after she did not report incidents involving a student in her classroom.
Bowen taught special needs children at New Prospect Elementary. Investigators say that between September and November of last year, a young girl was inappropriately touched by another student. Earlier this month, the same child was touched by a different student.
Bowen did reportedly tell the victim's mother what happened in a phone conversation. However, the Sheriff's Office says Bowen never reported it to school administrators.
By law, teachers are mandated to report such incidents. Anderson School District 5 says Bowen is no longer employed by them.
