A suspect is in custody after being accused of assaulting a woman at an Upstate grocery store. The Oconee County Sheriff's Office responded to a reported assault at the Aldi location in Seneca , Tuesday.
Witnesses say they heard the woman screaming for help and saw a man trying to pull her pants down. The suspect later identified as 18 year old DeMarea Tyleak Rogers was detained by witnesses until deputies could arrive.
The victim told investigators that she did not know Rogers but did notice him following her around the store. She also said that as she was putting her groceries in her vehicle that Rogers shoved her against the vehicle and thrusted against her.
All of that happened in front of her children who were with her in the parking lot. Rogers was arrested and is charged with assault with intent to commit criminal sexual conduct.
