
An officer involved shooting has led to charges against an Upstate teenager. As we previously reported, SLED was called into investigate after an exchange of gunfire between a teen suspect and officers from the Greenwood Police Department.
The incident happened last Wednesday, in the Grendel Mill Village area of Greenwood. Police say, a 17 year old boy ran from officers on foot and fired, the officers then returned fire. The suspect was found shortly after that hiding inside a U-Haul trailer.
The 17 year old has been charged with a weapons violation and firing a gun inside city limits, his identity has not been released.
No injuries were reported in the incident. SLED says, the incident marks the 16th officer involved shooting in the state, this year.
