An Upstate teenager has been charged with attempted murder and more after firing at his mother.
According to Greenwood police, Zacharariah Gregory Hughey, 17, was walking away from a home when he shot at his mother with a stolen gun. The mother reports the bullet struck close enough to kick up dirt and gravel that hit her arm. Hughey was found walking shortly after and arrested without incident.
The gun, which was previously reported stolen, will be returned to the owner after being processed.
Hughey is charged with attempted murder, possession of a stolen pistol, unlawful carry of a pistol, and possession of a weapon during a violent crime.
