An arrest has been made in an Upstate murder case. The Spartanburg County Sheriff's Office says, 19 year old Kamarion Jarrell Pitts, turned himself in at the Spartanburg County Detention Facility. Pitts has been charged with Murder and Possession of a Weapon During a Violent Crime in connection with the homicide that occurred on Saturday.
Deputies responded to a report of man shot inside a vehicle on Fairforest Road . Deputies found 20-year-old Daniel Maurice Rivera dead inside a 2026 Toyota Corolla, at the intersection of Old Greenville Old Country Parrish Roads.
Witnesses said the car had left the parking lot of Valley Creek Apartments, before leaving the roadway and coming to rest after striking a tree. Rivera was pronounced dead at the scene.
Pitts remains in custody at the Spartanburg County Detention Facility and is scheduled to appear in court for a bond hearing, Wednesday afternoon.
